10th November – October Round Up
Despite the lack of rain we managed to get going with our first winner on Sat 20th Oct at Market Rasen .
L’CHAMISE ran in a 2m4 Mares Novice Hurdle which for her proved pretty eventful after travelling at the rear of the field she had to dodge loose horses two out to clear her way to winning. She is a game mare and will only improve from this outing. I was really delighted with her performance and Nick’s skill in steering her out of danger. I will plan to run her again this month. REBEL COMMANDER ran at the same meeting in the 2m Maiden Hurdle, travelling well and finishing 5th from which he gained a handicap mark of 103, I hope to get him out again this month, he is looking for an owner if anyone is tempted as he is an exciting prospect and instant action.
We ran three at Fontwell on Wed 24th Oct, SHINTORI over 2m 5 in a handicap hurdle, I was very pleased with his performance particularly as he had not been on the course for a while, he travelled well finishing 3rd out of a field of 15. My plan would be to run him this month over fences. SMART BOY ran in the 2m3 handicap hurdle, he led out in front until 3 out then was out paced finishing 5th but I will be stepping him up in trip to go to war again this month. REDMOND ran in a Handicap chase over 2m5, he jumped well and went out in front but was headed two from home, turning in on the bottom bend they quickened away from him being that it was quicker ground. Now that we are getting some rain I will get him out in the next few weeks.
We ran KING CALVIN at Cheltenham on Saturday 27th October, he was travelling so well but it was not to be his day as he slipped badly on the bend after the 6th hurdle which was so disappointing for all involved. He has recovered well and has enjoyed much fuss from the physio, he is back cantering now and I will aim to get him back to the course soon.
BALLYKNOCK CLOUD ran at Chepstow on Tues 30th Oct in a 3m 2f chase. He jumped well enough but I am not sure the trip was right for him and I will plan to drop him back to 3m or under.
Meanwhile back in the yard the rest of the horses are all in good order and enjoying their work so fingers crossed for the next month’s runners.
