13th June – Season Summary

 In Jack’s Blog

Well I must say, my first season was fraught with challenges but mainly driven by the weather which proved to be very frustrating for everyone.  However, I was delighted with how the horses ran overall and we managed to get 8 wins in our first season out of 46 runners of which half were in the first four, giving us a 17% strike rate.

We have started this new season with a great win from KING CALVIN at Newton Abbot and recently POSH TOTTY at Uttoxeter, she never disappoints and always gives her all.

We have been busy buying horses to sell for the future and looking at them now out in the field, I am confident we have made the right choices and I am looking forward to getting them to the track. Please do contact me should you be interested in becoming an owner or part-owner. Which leads me on to say that we are delighted to have The WESSEX Racing Club on board for this new season and hope that many of you might become members as it really is a great way to become involved in racing at very little cost.

At the beginning of May Jade gave birth to our first daughter FLORA , who is I must say is magic and a great time waster.  She is allowed up to the bunker on the gallops some mornings with me and enjoys being driven off road in her 4×4 buggy, so hopefully she will get to grips with it all and be riding out once her legs are long enough!

We will be holding our annual Open Morning at the end of September so the staff are ever busy cleaning out the boxes and painting for the forthcoming season. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the team that have worked for us this season, they have worked very hard and when it has been cold and wet it is not an easy job to keep smiling.  Going forward we will be employing a new Head person as Jackie is sadly retiring, although she will be back to ride out!
