At the age of 16 I went to The British Racing School. This led to my first role working in flat racing for Brian Gubby based at Ascot. Following this I worked for Jim Boyle in Epsom.
I learnt a lot from this role as it was a bigger team and they had a wider range of horses that enabled me to develop my riding skills, particularly with younger horses.
After two and half years I decided to leave racing and embark on a degree course in Travel and Tourism – this lasted a week! I was missing racing too much and got a job straight away with Paul Nicholls – which was fortunate as it is where I met Jack!
I worked for Paul for four-and-a-half years which was a wonderful experience from which I learnt a huge amount and to be involved in such a successful yard with fantastic horses, was an exciting time in my career. From this Paul nominated me for the Godolphin David Nicholson Newcomer Award, where I was fortunate enough to be the runner up for that year.
The next part of my career took me to Exeter Racecourse where I became a Racing Sales Executive. This introduced me to the business side of racing and gave me experience about the importance of good customer relationships with Owners and racegoers alike.
At this time Jack’s training career started to expand and the number of horses grew to a level where he needed my support and in 2015 I joined the yard full time.
In my first season I am looking to:
- Maintain the high standard of achievement with the horses.
- Nurture the young talent through the Point- to- Point field to deliver the results.
- Seek and listen to advice to develop my skills as a first season trainer.
