We use the all-weather arena (28 x 40) particularly for schooling young horses and when the ground is not right on the grass. This ensures no damage to their legs, as it has a carpet mix surface which has proved to be very successful in the wetter weather.
The young horses learn by jumping poles initially and then it’s a gradual process to step them up to the ditchboard and barrels before going over the Easyfix hurdles.
The older horses start their schooling over the hurdles and then the ditchboard and barrels before going over fences, providing the ground is in the right condition.
We have Easyfix hurdles and have recently acquired some new Easyfix steeplechase fences, in addition to some smaller birch fences which are used to teach horses before they jump the larger obstacles.
