On Cloud Nine – Wednesday 8th November
What a thrill it was to see BALLYKNOCK CLOUD winning his hurdles debut over 3 miles at Southwell on Thursday 26th Oct, he really did us proud and Noel gave him a great ride. He will certainly be one to follow in future and I hope to have him out again in December.
L’CHAMISE ran on Sunday 29th Oct at Aintree in a hot Mares bumper and she gave a good account of herself by coming 5th. She has much promise and I am looking to find a similar race for her next outing.
SMART BOY was unlucky not to win at Chepstow last week. He ran a blinder considering he was carrying a 7lb penalty and made a slight mistake three from home. He certainly travelled well and wants to deliver. He’ll have break now and be back out in December.
KING CALVIN ran at Stratford last Thursday and despite travelling with the leaders found the course tight but managed to come home 4th. It was a really promising run and I will look to step him up in trip on a more galloping course.
POSH TOTTY had her first run this season in the Con Jockeys H’cap hurdle at Plumpton Monday and gave them all a run for their money coming home a very positive second. She was a little out-paced and I will step her up in trip or may be make more use of her earlier in the race.
What a win yesterday at Exeter with ASK THE WEATHERMAN in the 3m chase, carrying top weight, Nick gave him a great ride and he stayed on like the real trooper to the absolute delight of his owners. I am very keen for him to run in the Welsh National so we will keep him fresh until then.
We had our first experience day for a Morning here on the gallops, this was great fun as the visitors who stayed the night before at Seaborough had a real “Barber family” experience meeting my Grand father on the gallops in the bunker, along with his brother Paul and then my Dad. They got to listen to plenty of racing yarns whilst being driven around and all washed down with a fabulous full English.
